303 C TT-Matic Robots Mizrahi Shaul Israel I bought it 6 months ago. Excellent ROBOT performance Two disadvantages: 1. Manual settings 2. Not easy to transper from place to place 9
1040 Newgy Robots Tomislav USA I have this robot only for two weeks but already spent more then 20 h practicing. You are getting far more spinier balls then in human to human play, which helped me a lot in improving my topspins. Unfortunately, you will be more or less out of timing, rhythm and appropriate blade angles when you start playing with humans again. But after a while and few adjustments you will have formidable topspins. Setting the robot on surface of the table will not give you good feel for strokes. Robot head in that case is 50 cm above the table level and in order to get realistic pushes (backspins) or topspins the head is not supposed to be higher then 15cm. So the chair with adjustable height or robo candy cart or whatever else is that will help you to adjust height is recommended. Unlike some more advanced models this model is coupling speed and spin. So the faster ball will be more spinier and vice versa, slow ball has less spin, which is not the case in real human to human game. Collecting net helps a lot to recycle the balls but anyway you will need some rest after 2-3 minutes of very intense practice. Side nets are not necessary, you can recycle 60+ or 70+% of balls depending of strokes. 0
2040 Newgy Robots Andrew USA This robot isnt recommended for new comers. If you are a new comer, it is better if you spend money getting a coach. This robot is only good for a work out. 7
500-B TT-Matic Robots ttman Germany TTmatic 500-B is the best robot there is. I have used it for 2 years now - 6 days a week 2-4 hours a day. Nothing broken so far. Everything is like it was when I got it first. You need to replace the rubber foam rolls because they wear out with time. If you want very fast balls these rolls wear out faster. I replaced the rolls 3-4 times on each arm. You can make your own rolls also. The machine plays very realistic balls. You can set spin and speed independently and you can also produce no spin balls (which you can't on a robopong for example) You can chose 4 different angles for x-axis ball placement. (1/8 of the table width, 1/4, 1/2 and full table width). This can be done for each arm individually (same as everything else). The arm can either move from left to right or stay fixed to a position. The speed of the movement of the arm can be adjusted from very fast to no movement at all. You can decide the lenght of the balls, speed and spin - also for each arm individually. You can decide if you want both arms to play balls or only one arm and you can program the machine e.g. to play 4 times with the left arm and 2 times with the right arm or whatever you like. Also you can programm that an arm moves for a while and then stops for a specified amount of time. Again this can be done individually for both arms. In the end you get lots of possibilities and combinations and variations. The machine can produce realistic gameplay for technical training and it is quite fun to train with the machine. The butterfly amicus is better suited if you want to train specific game situations because you can program 4 balls and the machine will play these 4 balls on the same spots every time. The 500-B can only have 2 balls instead, but it has much better random placement functions so it's much better for technical training or amusement. The 500-B can produce a substantial amount of topspin or backspin but it can't produce super heavy underspin or topspin. But for technical training this is good enough for sure. This machine is very expensive but it's also worth every cent of it's price if you are really serious about your training. It is intended for heavy duty usage. As far as realistic balls are concerned the 500-B is the best on the market by far, but you need to use it for quite some time to find out how to adjust it properly to make it produce certain balls. It's also not very simple to program certain standard workouts unless you have some experience with the machine. The butterfly amicus is better if you only want certain standard workouts but the 500-B is much better as far as the rest is concerned. The amicus is good as an additional training machine for certain scenarios, but I'd recommend the 500-B as a primary work out machine. 10
2040 Newgy Robots Andy USA In my opinion, this is a good tool for players rated over 1600. If you are a beginner and if you use it long enough it'll mess up your game and you will progress slower than usual. The reason is that your swings or movements have not been stablized so your mind tend to find a way merely to get the ball back to the table. Then, you have bad habits. Another negative aspect of this tool is that the spin it generates is unrealistic. Last time, after i used it to practice looping underspin, the second day i kept miss looping my friends' underspin pushes. Anyone who's had one of these should agree with me. But, there is one skill you could learn through the robot, the block. I still use it a lot for such a drill. To do this, I calibrate my speed of ball to 5 or up, and nose the oscilator to the appropriate level so it shots tremendous top spins balls (virtual loops). Basically, just block forehand and backhand and soon you shall find yourself more skilled at blocking your opponents' power loops. Anyway, if you have $500-600 to spend for the robot, i recommend that you spend that money for a real coach because it does more harm than good to get a robot in early stage of your tt career. Good Luck! 6
1040 Newgy Robots Matt Schell USA I have been very happy with this robot. I got back into the game about 9 months ago and hitting with the robot has allowed me to improve quickly. Picking up the balls isn't too bad given that the machine holds more than 200 balls-after you hit that many you need a break anyway. I do highly recommend that you get the collecting net that attaches to the end of the table (different than the recycling net). My net catches about 60% of the balls depending on the stroke so it makes pick up a lot more managable. Given the price and how much I have gained from the robot I highly recommend it. People with ratings >2100 might want the increased functionality of some of the more expensive robots, but for the rest of us Newgy is definitely the way to go. 9
2040 Newgy Robots Ben USA If you are serious enough about table tennis to invest in a robot, I would recommend spending the money on lessons instead (if you can afford both, great). I used this for a while at a club, and found the spin being coupled to the speed of the ball to be a very limiting factor. 7
2040 Newgy Robots stephen England Finally purchased this beasty. Wow what a machine. For the money you can practice almost 80-90% of drills that you need to improve and also the ones that practice partners find boring such flips and service returns. On medium settings 5-6 i would say that the spin speed you are receiving would be what you would experience in a very fast rally. Try the thing out at 10 and you will end up behind a mountain of balls. The oscillator is a great option. It works by selecting zones on the table and the robot then randomly places balls in that section. Great for improving footwork and stamina.Without the oscillator going there is a tendency to remain static and just hit 50 forhands. Make sure you return to the neutral position after each shot so you dont develop bad habits. Once youve got one youlle become addicted and quite sore(practising 50 or so backhand loopsmakes your arm feel like its left it socket!!) 10
1040 Newgy Robots JOSE_A Australia Good for personal training. You'll have to spend a lot of time picking up balls though. 7
2040 Newgy Robots TTpro Australia I have a 2040 robot and I must say it has improved my game so quickly. The added assurance when going for any shot, (I have played this on my robot a million times), is great fo the confidence. Also when you do a shit shot you know exactly the thing you did wrong because of the feeling of feedback you get, having done the correct shot so many times. Being human makes it hard to get a great shot off everytime but if I keep practicing I will definately get my percentages up. Having a robot beats the heel out of playing practice as the number of times you can practice a shot on a robot decreases the elapsed time in getting the correct technique. (If you know what I mean. 1
