LIEBHERR Europe Top-12: KREANGA vs. BOLL in semis print email
Sunday, 07 February 2010 10:46

Kalinikos Kreanga (GRE)In the Men's semi-finals of the LIEBHERR Europe Top-12 in Dusseldorf top seeded Timo BOLL will play against Kalinikos KREANGA and CHEN Weixing will meet Vladimir SAMSONOV.

In duel Kalinikos KREANGA against Patrick BAUM experienced Greek player prevailed. Kalinkos overcame BAUM in five games. “I used good draw and I played good this time,” said KREANGA and continued to talk about tomorrow’s semis.” I have nothing to lose against BOLL. He beat me in past two occasions. I overcame him in two matches before that, but of course, chances are on his side here.”

KREANGA was serious, but he could not force himself to stay that for long. Soon he continued in his style: ”I will need a little luck, good form and it will help if Timo will sleep little less tonight. Year before I was defeated in match against SAMSONOV now I have a chance to be defeated against BOLL.”

After the match against BOLL, SUSS regretted he could not show more in the duel. “I did not have chance to put the pressure on Timo and to make a close game. He played very well. I had much better performances against Timo before. I had 2:0 advantage at England Open and I created the chances… it was so opposite to this match,” explained SUSS.

Timo BOLL pointed it is always hard to play against teammates. “We know each other very well, and usually he plays on much higher level than tonight. However, it is important that I kept my focus and that I am ready for the proceedings. KREANGA is in good shape. He played very good against Patrick.”

Dimitrij OVTCAHROV was defeated in match against CHEN Weixing of Austria and left Germany with only one name at the semi final line up list. Experienced Austrian won in first two games by narrow margin, but in next two, he dominated. Vladimir SAMSONOV of Belarus beat  Zoran PRIMORAC of Croatia. In opening games, Zoran put some pressure on SAMSONOV, but latter Belarus safely cruised towards semis. Vladimir succeeded in five games.
