Table tennis coaching - Training camps
During an annual table tennis training period two training camps take place. The first takes place in the beginning of the basic preparation period and the second two months before the target tournament. Below is an example of a typical training camp.
Weekly Schedule
1st day: Arrival in the morning - lunch - one training session
2nd day: Two training sessions
3rd day: Two training sessions
4th day: One training session - Free evening
5th day: Two training sessions
6th day: Two training sessions
7th day: One training session - lunch - departure
Typical day at the training camp
07:00 - 07:30 Breakfast
09:15 - 12:30 Table tennis training - strength training - stretching
13:00 - 13:30 Lunch
16:00 - 19:15 Table tennis training - physical training (steady running or interval running or fartlek* training) - stretching
20:00 - 20:30 Dinner
Morning training session
09:15 - 09:30 Warm-up exercises
09:30 - 09:40 Free exercising
09:40 - 10:10 Two exercises (control and footwork), 7.5 min each (for each player)
10:10 - 10:15 Rest
10:15 - 10:55 Two tactical exercises, 10 min each (for each player)
10:55 - 11:00 Rest
11:00 - 11:30 Two exercises (unexpected strokes and footwork), 7.5 min each (for each player)
11:30 - 11:40 Rest
11:40 - 12:30 Strength training - stretching
Afternoon training session
16:00 - 16:10 Warm-up exercises
16:10 - 16:20 Free exercising
16:20 - 16:50 Two exercises (control and footwork), 7.5 min each (for each player)
16:50- 16:55 Rest
16:55 - 17:35 Two tactical exercises and matches starting from 15-15, 10 min each (for each player)
17:35 - 17:40 Rest
17:40 - 17:55 Re-topspins away from the table
17:55 - 18:10 Footwork exercise, 7.5 min for each player
18:10 - 18:20 Rest18:20 - 19:15 Physical training - stretching
*Running among forests and soft surfaces at varying tempos, over various distances, up and down hills, at different speeds. The Swedish National Team uses this method during the basic summer preparation period
